philadelphia burger
>
Tonight we made the Philadelphia burger (aka Philly, as in Cheesesteak.) It was our standard turkey and although I forgot to salt and pepper the meat the burgers were super amazingly juicy. It kind of reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where they kept eating the ‘fat free’ yogurt and then had it tested only to find out that it wasn’t fat free at all.
The toppings included super thick slices of provolone, sauteed red peppers and caramelized (w/ a bit of char) onions and a pile of pepper rings.
We had the new Alexia Spicy Sweet Potato fries on the side but they didn’t really pack much heat.
Overall, pretty tasty.
bolder boulder
>
Well, vacation winding down but feeling the need to get out in the fresh air just one more day… Friday we went up to Boulder. Home of the University of Colorado, the Bolder Boulder 10K, tree huggers, street performers and strangely of late, foodies. The recent Top Chef season five winner, Hosea hails from this cool town and the Jax fish house.
We started the day at the factory of Celestial Seasonings learning the difference between black, green and white tea and lingering in the mint room, where if they left the door open overnight, you could smell mint for 4 miles the next morning.
Then we walked along Pearl Street stopping for lunch at the West End Tavern. Three of us had the same lunch and it is worth mentioning. A bacon and jalapeno cheeseburger. Really, I don’t know who first started pickling jalapeno’s but they couldn’t have done better than this. They were basically bread and butter jalapenos. I will be attempting this very soon.
We strolled down Pearl stopping at a few old favorites, Two Hands and Peppercorn with this crazy fold myself into a box guy somewhere in the middle. Our day wrapped up with a stop at Tee & Cakes for a cupcake and coffee. A sweet ending. Time to head for home.
women’s ministry
Thursday morning I took a break from vacationing and went to speak to the women’s Bible study at church. Littleton has a vibrant passion for missions. I dually spoke about Wycliffe and Brian’s surgery. I got to have my fifteen minutes of fame speaking about the urgent need for Bible translation, inviting prayer and cell phone donation.
Did you know that there are about 200 million people without access to God’s word in their own language? I invited them (and am inviting you) to consider giving and praying about Bible translation. Really, it’s the least you can do.
Afterward, I went and had coffee with my sister. Somehow we wore the same clothes that day.
And then lunch with my friend Cody at Noodles.
Every minute time well spent.
