4Rivers Field Trip
>
last weekend marked the first really warm Saturday of the year and I saw some friends and co-workers had posted a photo of a bbq place in Winter Park called 4Rivers Smokehouse. I had to check into that and did a quick google search to find that it is a fairly new bbq joint and getting rave reviews. So, today we headed outside to have some lunch and take a field trip to the Phuoc Loc Tho Asian Supermarket to browse the aisles. I would agree that it is pretty good ‘Q for Orlando. I had the signature Brisket sandwich with deep fried dill pickles and corn along with a bacon wrapped cream cheese filled jalapeno (brought most of them home…it was excessive!) Z had pulled pork with corn bread and cheesy grits. Deep fried pickles. What? Totally weird and I guess it might be a real Texan thing. The sauce wasn’t as spicy as I would have expected but flavorful. The meat was really REALLY great and just melted in its tenderness. I usually stick to water and diet coke but washed it all down with Sweet Tea.
We were kind of crammed into a table with 6 of our closest (we didn’t know them from Adam) friends but it was a nice way to celebrate winter’s end and get outside.
calzone
>
I can say with fair assurance that we make spectacular calzones. Publix is our local everyday food shopping market and in the bakery/deli they have lumps of pizza dough most every day. Roll out a circle or oval and fill half with your favorite pizza toppings – in this case, sauteed onions, hot italian sausage, pepperoni, ricotta and mozzarella. If you use other veg I would lightly cook them first unless you like them on the raw side. Fold it over and pinch and roll the edge. Smooth some olive oil and garlic salt on top and bake at 425 for 20 or so minutes.
Dinner is served.
fantastick fåfänga
>
clearly swedish for vanity. I have been putting in a few extra hours and time outside of the office keeping up with work (new job = new challenge!) Z has been sick for a couple of days and was feeling up to dinner out so we went to harmoni for supper where I had a sirloin panini with a glass of gougenheim malbec and z had truffled mac and cheese with cream soda. Almost like eating at home but someone else washing the dishes.
Then we stopped at Ikea within ten minutes of closing, which I don’t recommend as the entire store unloads their entire carts of purchases at the register. If you are familiar with Ikea they send you through the store on a specific track to get your eye on maximum product but I wanted to pick up some new napkins. Ridiculous, I know. I am not a fan of cloth because of the ironing factor. If you read this blog much you see lots of white plates and paper napkin pops of color. Basically, to get my cute on, I go with Ikea paper. We hit every shortcut and down the stairs into the marketplace where we stocked up on new spring napkins. A small bit of everyday vanity to help in making home the best place to be.
